The Zeal of the Lord

The Zeal of the Lord

Theodore Austin-Sparks (1888–1971) was a British evangelist and author. Born in London, he became a Christian at seventeen while listening to street-preachers in Glasgow, and was ordained a Baptist minister at twenty-four. In 1926 he left the denomination and, with like-minded Christians, founded a conference and training centre at Honor Oak in south-east London. From there he published the free magazine "A Witness and A Testimony" until his death, and his conference ministry took him across Europe, North America and Asia. He asked that his messages be shared freely and word for word. Source: Wikipedia (summarized; CC BY-SA)

About this book

“The Zeal of the Lord” connects Elijah’s consuming jealousy for God’s rights with the heavenly fulness seen in Elisha, whose ministry begins when Elijah is taken up and his mantle falls. Opening from 1 Kings 19 and the parallel passages, it presents Elijah’s last journey with Elisha in 2 Kings 2 as a picture of that inheritance. The reader is called to surrender personal interests so God may have His full place among His people. First published in "A Witness and A Testimony" magazines, 1936-37.
