The Voices of the Prophets

The Voices of the Prophets

Theodore Austin-Sparks (1888–1971) was a British evangelist and author. Born in London, he became a Christian at seventeen while listening to street-preachers in Glasgow, and was ordained a Baptist minister at twenty-four. In 1926 he left the denomination and, with like-minded Christians, founded a conference and training centre at Honor Oak in south-east London. From there he published the free magazine "A Witness and A Testimony" until his death, and his conference ministry took him across Europe, North America and Asia. He asked that his messages be shared freely and word for word. Source: Wikipedia (summarized; CC BY-SA)

About this book

Through Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Jonah, and Micaiah, Austin-Sparks explores how Scripture’s words may be heard while their living voice and meaning go unrecognized. Beginning with Acts 13:27 and Hebrews 1:1, he draws out prophetic themes of discernment, faithfulness amid opposition, God’s purpose, and the messenger’s life as a sign. The reader is called to hear inwardly, heed the prophets’ warning, and follow God even when obedience seems lonely or its fruit unseen. First published in "A Witness and A Testimony" magazines, 1965-67.
