Theodore Austin-Sparks (1888–1971) was a British evangelist and author. Born in London, he became a Christian at seventeen while listening to street-preachers in Glasgow, and was ordained a Baptist minister at twenty-four. In 1926 he left the denomination and, with like-minded Christians, founded a conference and training centre at Honor Oak in south-east London. From there he published the free magazine "A Witness and A Testimony" until his death, and his conference ministry took him across Europe, North America and Asia. He asked that his messages be shared freely and word for word. Source: Wikipedia (summarized; CC BY-SA)

“The Mountains Around Jerusalem” reads scenes from Matthew’s Gospel as signs of the heavenly nature and order of Christ’s kingdom, embodied in the church. From the Sermon on the Mount and the storm-tossed boat to the Transfiguration, Gethsemane, and the commission, Austin-Sparks traces spiritual ascendancy through heavenly presence, provision, vision, and the Cross, calling believers to leave earthly attachments and serve under Christ’s authority. From unpublished manuscripts. Published on the web in June 2010.
