The Divine Anointing

Theodore Austin-Sparks (1888–1971) was a British evangelist and author. Born in London, he became a Christian at seventeen while listening to street-preachers in Glasgow, and was ordained a Baptist minister at twenty-four. In 1926 he left the denomination and, with like-minded Christians, founded a conference and training centre at Honor Oak in south-east London. From there he published the free magazine "A Witness and A Testimony" until his death, and his conference ministry took him across Europe, North America and Asia. He asked that his messages be shared freely and word for word. Source: Wikipedia (summarized; CC BY-SA)

About this book

“The Divine Anointing” explores the Holy Spirit as the Father’s promised gift, using Jesus’ anointing in Luke 3–4 and the holy oil of Exodus 30 to show its sacredness, power, and purpose. Austin-Sparks connects the anointing with the vocation of Christ and the church, and with the gospel of grace, calling believers to recognize their life and service in Christ as dependent on the Spirit. Chapters 2, 4 & 5 are transcripts of messages given in 1958 and can be listened to in the audio section. We do not have the audio for chapters 1 & 3, but the unpublished written transcripts of these chapters were edited and supplied by the Golden Candlestick Trust.
