The Cross, the Church, and the Conflict

Theodore Austin-Sparks (1888–1971) was a British evangelist and author. Born in London, he became a Christian at seventeen while listening to street-preachers in Glasgow, and was ordained a Baptist minister at twenty-four. In 1926 he left the denomination and, with like-minded Christians, founded a conference and training centre at Honor Oak in south-east London. From there he published the free magazine "A Witness and A Testimony" until his death, and his conference ministry took him across Europe, North America and Asia. He asked that his messages be shared freely and word for word. Source: Wikipedia (summarized; CC BY-SA)

About this book

Opening with the returned exiles setting the altar and laying the temple’s foundation in Ezra 3, Austin-Sparks presents Christ’s Cross as the basis that leads directly to God’s Church. He traces the Church as a living, functioning expression of Christ’s life, shaped by the Cross’s defeat of unrighteousness, idolatry, and self-reliant human power, and calls believers into practical unity and spiritual fellowship amid conflict. First published in "A Witness and A Testimony" magazines, 1943-45.
