Theodore Austin-Sparks (1888–1971) was a British evangelist and author. Born in London, he became a Christian at seventeen while listening to street-preachers in Glasgow, and was ordained a Baptist minister at twenty-four. In 1926 he left the denomination and, with like-minded Christians, founded a conference and training centre at Honor Oak in south-east London. From there he published the free magazine "A Witness and A Testimony" until his death, and his conference ministry took him across Europe, North America and Asia. He asked that his messages be shared freely and word for word. Source: Wikipedia (summarized; CC BY-SA)

Opening with the Church as a contested, cosmic reality, the chapters ask whether it can still find true expression in local assemblies. They present the Church as supernatural in origin and life, and as Christ’s anointed vessel, appointed for a purpose by the Holy Spirit. Readers are called to seek living, Spirit-led fellowship that serves and strengthens believers and bears witness beyond itself. First published in "A Witness and A Testimony" magazines, Jan-Feb 1969 through Sep-Oct 1969 (Volumes 47-1 - 47-3 & 47-5).
