The Battle for Life

The Battle for Life

Theodore Austin-Sparks (1888–1971) was a British evangelist and author. Born in London, he became a Christian at seventeen while listening to street-preachers in Glasgow, and was ordained a Baptist minister at twenty-four. In 1926 he left the denomination and, with like-minded Christians, founded a conference and training centre at Honor Oak in south-east London. From there he published the free magazine "A Witness and A Testimony" until his death, and his conference ministry took him across Europe, North America and Asia. He asked that his messages be shared freely and word for word. Source: Wikipedia (summarized; CC BY-SA)

About this book

Opening with Christ’s fiery-eyed examination of the churches in Revelation, Austin-Sparks presents the controversy for Zion as a battle over the manifestation and testimony of divine life. Christ’s Cross secures victory over death, yet believers and the Church must progressively learn to live by that life amid spiritual conflict. The chapters call readers to discover its power, stand together in testimony, and enter more fully into the victory already won in Christ. This book is an updated edition that includes alterations that T. Austin-Sparks made when he re-published it in "A Witness and A Testimony" magazine in 1970-71. Original, unabridged copies of the book are still available from Emmanuel Church (more information on the Resources page). It was re-published in the magazine with this introduction: "The book with this title has been out of print for some time, but we are frequently being asked for it. There are some difficulties in reprinting at present. We have several waiting to go to the printers, but the Lord will have to facilitate in the matter. We do feel that this book, The Battle for Life, has a vital message for our time, and we have therefore decided to reproduce it in A Witness and a Testimony... There are some slight alterations and additions in its form as here.".
