Andrew Murray (1828–1917) was a South African pastor and writer in the Dutch Reformed Church. Educated in Scotland and the Netherlands, he served congregations at Bloemfontein, Worcester, Cape Town, and Wellington, and was six times moderator of his church. Murray wrote some 240 books on prayer and the deeper Christian life; our library holds Abide in Christ, With Christ in the School of Prayer, Absolute Surrender, and The Prayer Life.

Murray follows the Bible’s use of “perfect,” beginning with its testimony about Noah, Job, David, and Asa, and tracing the theme from Abraham’s call to the New Testament teaching on Christ and the believer. He presents perfection as a wholehearted life with God, formed through obedience, holiness, patience, and love, and calls readers to press on while trusting God to complete His work in them.
