Albert Benjamin Simpson (1843–1919) was a Canadian-born Presbyterian pastor who ministered in New York City and founded the Christian and Missionary Alliance. After a healing experience he preached Christ as Saviour, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King — the 'Fourfold Gospel' represented in our library — and built a missionary movement that sent workers worldwide. His devotional Days of Heaven on Earth is also widely read.

Simpson explores prayer through Christ’s teaching, opening with the Lord’s Prayer in Luke 11 and its vision of prayer as a child’s conversation with the Father. He considers God’s encouragement to ask, the meaning of praying in Jesus’ name, faith in prayer, and sin as a hindrance. The chapters call readers to pray persistently, trustfully, and with lives aligned to God’s will.
